About George
George Hearn was raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he learned the value of a handshake as word and that family comes first. He received a B.A. degree in Economics from Duke University, and thereafter earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina. After completing law school, he clerked for the Honorable J. Woodrow Lewis, Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. While at the Supreme Court, George grew committed to public service and became a steadfast model of the highest ethical standards in his profession.
In 1979, George moved to Conway, where he resides with his wife and daughter. For twenty years, he has been a partner in the firm of Hearn, Brittain & Martin, practicing in Conway and Myrtle Beach. He is a recipient of The Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina Law School and was recently honored as being a South Carolina Super Lawyer, a distinction accorded to only five per cent of the attorneys in this state.
George is committed to his community and serving the people of Horry County. He currently serves on the board of many organizations, such as the Shepard’s Table, the Conway Medical Center, and the South Carolina Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the South Carolina Bar. He has also previously served as a board member of the Horry County Red Cross, the Horry County Shelter Home, the Conway Hospital Foundation, and the Horry County Solid Waste Authority. George shares his commitment to high ethical and professional standards in the practice of law by frequently presenting at educational seminars held by the South Carolina Bar Association.
